YMCA of Metro Denver is seeking part-time Basketball Officials for Saturdays, 9am–5pm, with seasonal opportunities and growth potential. You’ll officiate games, uphold YMCA rules, and foster a positive, fair atmosphere for players and families.

Ideal candidates are at least 16 years old, with knowledge of basketball and strong customer service and communication skills. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and providing an inclusive, enjoyable experience for all participants.

Responsibilities

  • Officiate basketball games keeping play fair and within YMCA rules.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming environment for participants, coaches, and spectators.
  • Enforce sports policies, safety guidelines, and facility rules.
  • Coordinate with supervisors to report any safety concerns or incidents.
  • Assist with setup/teardown of equipment and court readiness.
  • Model YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Grounded by our mission and strengthened by the global YMCA movement we will elevate our people, purpose, partnerships and promise.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSMaintain courteous, friendly, helpful attitude in a positive manner towards participants, coaches and parents, while officiating games and keeping safety as the number one priorityKeep an orderly playing environment where games start and end on time; be aware of surrounding weather conditions and delays or postpone games as determined by the YMCA guidelinesRecite sports oath with players and coaches before each game; evaluate coaches and program quality a minimum of twice during the season (mid-season and end of season); report any inappropriate or problematic behavior, other observations and/or complaints to supervisorFollow and enforce all YMCA procedures and policies, including YMCA sport model and sport specific rules, personnel guidelines, safety guidelines, facility access procedures and membership policies.
