Job summary

The Bay Club Company in Bellevue, WA is seeking a Basketball Instructor to lead youth basketball programs under the Pavilion Director. You will deliver professional, high-quality activities, ensure participant engagement, and emphasize safety, development, and enjoyment for members.

You should have experience coaching youth, ability to manage groups, and a passion for promoting physical and mental well-being through sport. CPR certification is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of basketball coaching experience.
  • Experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting preferred.
  • Ability to create and implement innovative youth sport or fitness program lesson plans.
  • Passion for youth development and experience working with youth between 4-18 yrs.
  • Professional, friendly manner and excellent customer service attitude and abilities.
  • Strong verbal communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Enthusiastic, responsible, and dependable team player.
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative and willing to acquire new skills.
  • Well organized and detail oriented.
  • Computer literate.
  • CPR certification required.

Primary Job Functions

Facilitate Youth Basketball Programs


  • Create engaging and developmentally appropriate activities for a variety of age groups

  • Provide support to ensure every participant is engaged and successful

  • Extensive knowledge of age-appropriate sports coaching and instructional techniques

  • Be flexible and forward-thinking, always have a backup plan and be ready to execute

  • Practice excellent group control and effective communication to ensure participants learn skills correctly and prevent injury

  • Use age-appropriate behavior techniques to ensure an emotionally healthy experience

  • Execute programming to develop ancillary skills including social emotional competency, self-care and character-building components

  • Engage in and model positive adult-child interactions between associates and children



Communication & Relationships


  • Effectively and professionally interacts and communicates with senior management, managers, other Associates, vendors, members, staff, and guests.

  • Promote harmonious relations among members, staff, vendors, and the community at-large.

  • Active participation in required events, required programs, required meetings and required trainings.

  • Ensure the TBCC mission and club brand is upheld in all aspects of program operations

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements


  • Ability to arrive at work on time for all scheduled work shifts required

  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays required

  • Position requires daily public contact

  • Specific vision abilities required, but not limited to close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

  • This position deals with outside personnel such as members and clients on a regular basis with contact in various forms such as in person, phone and email.

  • The location of the position changes frequently from indoors to outdoors as property extends to both environments. However, extreme environmental conditions do not exist.

  • It is sometimes necessary to problem solve in difficult situations.

  • It is necessary to adapt to a frequently changing environment.

  • Sitting and standing is as needed.

  • Requires occasional physical exertion such as bending, twisting, sitting, stooping, and use of hands and fingers.

  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms

  • Frequently required to climb or balance and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

  • Must occasionally sit for extended periods and regularly walk around the facility

  • Must occasionally talk and hear

  • Occasional lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Must have the ability to demonstrate safe exercise and perform equipment techniques.

  • Must have the ability to perform CPR and administer first aid as needed.

  • It is necessary for the position to travel independently to property locations on a minimal basis.
