Responsibilities

• Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate practices focused on skill development, teamwork, conditioning, and game preparation.
• Teach and reinforce basketball fundamentals, strategies, sportsmanship, and appropriate game conduct.
• Foster a positive team culture that promotes respect, accountability, confidence, teamwork, and character.
• Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, school leadership, and other coaches regarding schedules, expectations, and team activities.
• Attend scheduled practices, games, tournaments, and required activities while ensuring student safety and adherence to school policies.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and student-centered Basketball Coach to lead and support our 26-27 Basketball program. The Basketball Coach is responsible for planning and leading practices, preparing student-athletes for competition, promoting sportsmanship and teamwork, and creating a positive and supportive team environment. The Coach will work collaboratively with school and athletics leadership, faculty, families, and other coaches to provide students with a meaningful and enjoyable athletic experience. Our ideal candidate is passionate about basketball, enjoys working with students, and understands the role athletics can play in developing teamwork, confidence, discipline, character, and leadership.

Position Details

Title: Basketball Coach
Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Reports to: Athletic Director, Assistant Athletic Director
Schedule: Seasonal; Late October through January/February

Qualifications & Requirements

• High school diploma required
• Previous experience coaching, playing, or in youth athletics preferred

Duties & Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Athletics Director and Assistant Athletic Director, the Basketball Coach will:

• Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate practices focused on skill development, teamwork, conditioning, and game preparation
• Teach and reinforce basketball fundamentals, strategies, sportsmanship, and appropriate game conduct
• Foster a positive team culture that promotes respect, accountability, confidence, teamwork, and character
• Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, school leadership, and other coaches regarding schedules, expectations, and team activities
• Attend schedule practices, games, tournaments, and required activities while maintaining student safety, professional boundaries, and compliance with Mason Preparatory School's policies and procedures
