Job summary

Milton Hershey School is seeking Middle School Boys & Girls Basketball Assistant Coaches (7/8 grades) to join the team for a one-year ancillary position. The season runs from November to February with practices from 3:00 pm-5:30 pm or 4:00 pm-6:00 pm, and weekday evening games.

Off-season work is flexible; stipend based on experience. This role requires a high school diploma (bachelor’s preferred), a valid driver’s license, and coaching or playing experience at the collegiate level.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Driver’s license in good standing is required.
• At least 1 year coaching experience or college playing experience.
• Knowledge of current coaching techniques, rules and training theory of the sport.
• Ability to teach beginner skills while developing athletes of varying levels.
• Ability to lead and inspire diverse youth; experience with disadvantaged backgrounds preferred.
• Develop safe, structured skill development and playing experiences with high character.
• Strong organizational and planning skills; uphold high ethical standards.

Responsibilities

• Coach Middle School basketball (7th/8th grade) and assist with practices.
• Lead practices Monday–Friday during the season; games on weekdays.
• Support student-athletes in skill development and character growth; ensure safety and discipline.

MHS provides enrolled students an amazing multitude of athletic opportunities, with access to state-of-the-art facilities and programs led by committed coaching staffs. MHS offers Varsity, JV, Junior High, and Recreational teams for 15 sports and intramural programs. Athletic programs begin in Elementary and Middle Division and culminate to the Senior Division Varsity level. Our program has produced many successful seasons ending with Mid Penn Conference, PIAA District III, and PIAA State Championships. Many athletes also advance to play at the college level after graduation from MHS.

MHS is currently seeking Middle School Boys & Girls Basketball Assistant Coaches (7/8 grades) to join the team. This is a one-year ancillary position, and the season runs from November to February with practices Monday through Friday from 3:00 pm-5:30 pm or 4:00 pm-6:00 pm. Games are held on weekday evenings. Off-season work is flexible and necessary for this position. The stipend is based on experience and working the entire season.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent, required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Driver’s license, in good standing is required.
• Has at least 1 year of successful coaching experience or experience playing at the collegiate level.
• Demonstrates knowledge of current coaching techniques, rules and regulations, and training theory of the sport.
• Must have the ability to teach beginner skills while also developing various skill level athletes in a positive and professional manner.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire diverse youth. Experience working with students from disadvantaged backgrounds is preferred.
• Demonstrated skills in providing safe, structured skill development practice and playing experiences, while also developing high character student athletes.
• Must exhibit commitment to high achievement and support for all students in a diverse, multi-cultural environment.
• Strong organizational and planning skills are required.
• Must demonstrate and uphold high ethical standards, serving as a role model and demonstrating a commitment to student engagement.
