Job description

Overview

A faculty member with the rank of instructor in Basic Sciences is responsible for teaching in lecture and/or laboratory settings. They are assigned to provide instruction in specific curriculum areas based on their training and experience, including:

• Microbiology or Immunology
• Biochemistry
• Molecular Biology, Genetics
• Physiology

Responsibilities

The following outlines the basic responsibilities of this position. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

1. Prepare and deliver lectures or laboratory lessons on assigned topics
2. Participate in student performance assessments through appropriate examination methods
3. Foster an environment conducive to student learning and respond to students' needs
4. Serve on TOUROCOM committees as assigned
5. Provide reports, budget information, and other documents as requested by Department Chairs, Directors, and Deans
6. Advise and mentor students
7. Participate in medical student admission interviews

Qualifications

Education, Preparation, and Training

Graduate-level degree (Master's or Doctoral) in one of the relevant topics mentioned above.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficient in relevant content expertise, research techniques, instructional design, delivery, and assessment
• Experience with course management, psychometrics/statistics, learning theory, public speaking, effective communication, and conflict management
• Basic computer skills supporting Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel) and software used for electronic exam administration

Ability to lift up to 5 lbs.

Compensation

Maximum Salary: USD $150.00/Hr
Minimum Salary: USD $120.00/Hr
