Job description

Overview

A faculty member with the rank of instructor in Basic Sciences is responsible for teaching in the lecture and/or laboratory setting. He/she is assigned to provide instruction in a portion of the curriculum for which he/she has suitable training and experience:

  • Microbiology or Immunology
  • Biochemistry
  • Molecular biology, Genetics
  • Physiology

Responsibilities

The following outlines the basic responsibilities of this position. Other duties are to be assigned as necessary.

  • Prepare and deliver lectures or laboratory lessons on assigned topics
  • Participate in assessment of student performance through appropriate examination methods as assigned
  • Promote an appropriate atmosphere for student education and be responsive to students' needs
  • Serve on TOUROCOM committees as assigned
  • Provide reports, budgetary information, and other documents as requested by Department Chairs, Directors, and Deans
  • Advise and mentor students
  • Participate in medical student admission interviews

Qualifications

Education, Preparation, and Training

  • Graduate level degree (Master’s or Doctoral) in any of the topics mentioned in the job responsibilities section.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

  • Proficient in the following areas: Relevant content expertise, research techniques, instructional design, delivery and assessment, course management, psychometrics/statistics, learning theory, public speaking, effective communication, conflict management
  • Basic computer skills supporting the proficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel, as well as software used to prepare and administer written exams electronically.

  • Able to lift 5 lbs.

Salary

Maximum Salary: USD $150.00/Hr. Minimum Salary: USD $120.00/Hr.
