Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the Tongue Point Job Corps Center in Astoria, OR, seeking a Mathematics instructor to deliver approved curricula and guide students toward academic and trade goals.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and valid teaching certificate in the state, plus 1 year related experience, and a valid driver’s license. You will maintain a safe training environment, collaborate with counselors to support student progress, and participate in assessments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and valid teaching certificate in the state of employment.
• 1 year of related teaching experience.
• Valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide students with direction, instruction, and assistance in designated areas of instruction.
• Motivate and counsel students in behavior, training, personal problems, or study habits.
• Coordinate with counselors and staff to resolve issues affecting student training and/or instruction.
• Develop and prepare lessons in accordance with approved curriculum guidelines.
• Maintain organized, clean, and safe training environment.
• Participate in student assessment panels and document evaluations.

What you will be doing:

You’ll be responsible for the academic instruction per approved curricula. They will provide training and basic guidance and direction to help students achieve their academic and trade goals.

Essential Functions

• Provide students with direction, instruction, and assistance in designated areas of instruction.
• Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems, or study habits.
• Coordinate with counselors and staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training and/ or instruction.
• Develop and prepare lessons in accordance with approved curriculum guidelines, recommend curricula changes and supplemental materials.
• Maintain organized, clean, and safe training environment.
• Participate in student assessment panels, perform required documentation and evaluation using CIS (Center Information System) and other documentation systems.

Education And Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and valid teaching certificate in the state of employment with 1-year related experience.
• A valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.
