Title:Basic Carpentry Skills 101 Instructor

Pay Rate:$360 per class + mileage reimbursement up to $300
(mandatory training session will be paid at a rate of $17/hour)
Hammerstone School, an Ithaca, NY nonprofit (since 2024, founded 2013), teaches carpentry to women and gender minorities through short (1-5-day), year-round workshops.
Our philosophy is that everyone can learn in a supportive environment. Instructors teach with humor and humility, actively addressing all learning challenges.
Basic Carpentry Skills 101 (BCS 101) is Hammerstone’s core course. In this class students will learn to build sawhorses while mastering tool use, measuring, cutting (handsaw/circular saw), and fastening (screws/nails).
The Basic Carpentry Skills 101 Instructor will lead students through our curriculum with kindness, empathy, and connection.
If you are not yet proficient in all of the key responsibilities but demonstrate a willingness to, and a history of, acquiring new skills, you will be a strong candidate for the job.
