Job summary

Davenport Community Schools, Central High School, is seeking a baseball coach to lead and develop a competitive program. You will teach fundamentals, coach games, and work with staff and boosters to promote athletics.

The role requires Iowa coaching authorization or teaching license with coaching endorsement, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to mentor student-athletes both on the field and in the classroom.

Qualifications

• Must hold an Iowa Coaching Authorization or Iowa Teaching License with Coaching Endorsement.
• Experience with competition/success at the state level is desired.
• Complete online application including a resume and 3 letters of reference.
• Strong interpersonal skills with diverse students to help each child reach potential.

Responsibilities

• Teach baseball fundamentals and coach techniques for high school players.
• Develop and maintain a competitive baseball program at Central High School.
• Promote other school programs and encourage broader student participation.
• Collaborate with Athletic Boosters for concessions and attend meetings.
• Assist at a coach's clinic and a youth camp annually.
• Provide supervision before, during, and after practices/matches.
• Coordinate with the strength/conditioning staff for proper conditioning.

Sport Duties

• Must demonstrate the ability to teach and coach young people in the fundamentals and techniques of baseball.
• Must demonstrate the appropriate competitive drive to develop and maintain a strong baseball program.
• Must demonstrate desire to constantly improve the program and overall sports program at Central High School.
• Must demonstrate ability to motivate student-athletes to be the best they can be on the court and in the classroom.
• Must demonstrate ability to communicate with all stakeholders including but not limited to administration, staff, students, and booster club.
• Support the strength and conditioning coordinator to ensure proper conditioning and weight training for our student athletes.
• Must provide adequate supervision before, during and after practices/matches.

School Duties

• Must lead by example demonstrating high character and solid moral background.
• Must promote other programs at Central High School and encourage to participate in other activities.
• Must work with Athletic Boosters in working concession stands throughout the year, and willing to attend one meeting per academic year.
• Will assist to offer a complete and dedicated effort toward the development of baseball at every age level.
• Will assist at one coach's clinic and one youth camp per calendar year.
• Will assist in the Davenport Central High Athletic Boosters youth summer sports camp
• Any duties as assigned by head coach, and administration.

• Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.
