Baltimore Orioles in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Data Scientist Fellow to create and analyze baseball datasets, building interpretable predictive models and player valuation tools to support Baseball Operations decisions.

This in-person, part-time, seasonal hourly role involves identifying data quality issues, designing models in R or Python, querying SQL databases, and delivering ad-hoc analyses while partnering with end users.

Qualifications

• Understanding of statistics and statistical models.
• Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with staff members of all levels.

Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve data quality issues.
• Design, analyze, test and implement interpretable predictive models using R or Python.
• Execute SQL queries to filter and prepare data.
• Evaluate and integrate new data sources.
• Produce ad-hoc reports or small studies as needed.
