Job description

Plano-Coudon is seeking an experienced Superintendent with base building expertise. The role involves managing the field, developing and driving the schedule, and collaborating with the project team to deliver projects that are on schedule, within budget, exceed client expectations, and are constructed with the highest standards of safety and quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Schedule and coordinate daily jobsite activities, including subcontractor and material deliveries.
• Supervise direct-hire labor, including laborers, carpenters, and temporary labor.
• Communicate job progress to all parties and resolve construction issues to maintain project progress.
• Administer personnel policies, procedures, and practices for all job-site workers.
• Participate in preconstruction tasks such as constructability reviews, scheduling, and site logistics.
• Participate in project interviews or other meetings required to secure future work.

ON- SITE SAFETY PROGRAM

• Implement and enforce all safety requirements, regulations, and laws.
• Lead weekly toolbox safety talks with all jobsite personnel.
• Coordinate scheduled safety inspections with the independent safety consultant and represent the company during OSHA/MOSH inspections.
• Distribute reports to subcontractors and ensure immediate abatement of all deficiencies.
• Manage MSDS sheets in accordance with OSHA requirements and regulations for project sites.
• Understand the superintendent's key role in managing risk for Plano-Coudon.

PROJECT SCHEDULING

• Participate in the development of the project schedule, identify milestones, and ensure that contractual requirements are met.
• Take ownership for driving the schedule and overcoming obstacles.
• Create two-week look‑ahead schedules and review them with subcontractor foremen weekly.
• Notify subcontractors in writing of any schedule deficiencies or delays affecting the critical path.
• Coordinate with the project manager when contractual pressure is needed on subcontractors failing to meet requirements.
• Deliver schedule updates at owner progress meetings.

PROJECT DOCUMENTATION

• Maintain daily field reports, progress photos, and project file folders.
• Maintain an updated record set of contract documents at the site, including all as-built information and current field changes or modifications.
• Request, collect, and file subcontractor manpower reports.
• Utilize Procore for documentation activities.

QUALITY CONTROL

• Ensure work meets the project documents and delivers quality workmanship from tradesmen.
• Review approved submittals and cross-reference between trades to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
• Schedule and conduct quality control inspections, documenting results regularly.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 8 years as a superintendent in commercial construction.
• Experience on projects ranging from $15 to $50 million.
• Base building experience.
• Experience with multifamily, life sciences, or hospitals preferred.
• Unwavering commitment to safety.
• Client-service approach with a relationship orientation toward subcontractors and partners.
• Proficiency with Procore and P6 preferred.
