Job summary

New England Mechanical Services, Inc is seeking an Automation/Controls Technician/Installer to support a Building Automation System (BAS) installation including mounting control components, conduit low voltage wiring, terminations, system start-up, checkout and troubleshooting.

You will read electrical and mechanical drawings, install conduit, place end devices, and coordinate with project teams. Overtime and travel may be required; a CT D2/S2 license and a valid driver's license are needed.

Qualifications

• License CT D2 or S2 required.
• High school diploma or technical school certificate, plus 2–5 years related experience or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and occupational license if applicable.
• Overtime, varied shifts, and occasional travel may be required.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Plan installations to minimize material waste and ensure future maintenance access.
• Install electrical conduit (measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble).
• Pull wiring through conduit, label, and conceal wiring before walls/ceilings are finished.
• Mount and terminate BAS end devices (temperature sensors, relays, actuators).
• Assist with commissioning, start-up procedures, and owner training if needed.
• Prepare sketches of wiring/equipment locations (as‑built).
• Read drawings and coordinate with other trades to ensure site readiness.
• Maintain licenses/certifications and adhere to safety policies.
