Job summary

Jobot in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Application Engineer to develop and support BAS/DDC control solutions for commercial facilities. You will translate project requirements and mechanical systems into effective BAS strategies, working closely with project managers, programmers, technicians, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities include selecting controllers and sensors, developing control sequences, and supporting startup and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Experience in Building Automation, HVAC controls, DDC, or BMS applications engineering.
• Strong understanding of HVAC equipment, sequences of operation, and control strategies.
• Experience selecting BAS controllers, sensors, actuators, and related hardware.
• Familiarity with BAS platforms and open protocols (BACnet/Modbus).
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and control schematics.
• Experience with Visio/AutoCAD is a plus.
• Strong technical problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop BAS/DDC applications and control strategies for commercial HVAC systems.
• Review mechanical plans, specs, sequences of operation, and project requirements.
• Select controllers, sensors, actuators, and other control hardware.
• Develop control sequences, points lists, network architecture, and layouts.
• Engineer applications for AHUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps.
• Create submittals, BOMs, control diagrams, and project docs.
• Support BAS programming, graphics, startup, and commissioning teams.
• Assist with system integrations using BACnet, Modbus, and other protocols.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot issues as needed.
• Coordinate with customers, engineers, PMs, and field teams to meet requirements.
