The Bartender plays an important role in delivering an exceptional dining and bar experience at Smith & Wollensky. This position is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages while providing attentive, personalized service in accordance with the restaurant's high standards of quality and hospitality. The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality, takes pride in their craft, and consistently delivers an outstanding guest experience.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESWelcome guests warmly and provide attentive, professional service at the bar and throughout the restaurant as needed.Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes, presentation standards, and quality expectations.Demonstrate knowledge of spirits, wines, cocktails, and beverage offerings to make recommendations and assist guests with selections.Create classic and specialty cocktails with consistency, accuracy, and attention to presentation.Take and enter beverage orders accurately into the POS system and ensure timely service.Engage with guests, anticipate their needs, and provide personalized recommendations to enhance their experience.Monitor guest satisfaction and address questions, requests, or concerns professionally and promptly.Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked bar, including glassware, garnishes, mixers, and other supplies.Follow all responsible alcohol service practices and applicable laws, including verifying guest identification and recognizing signs of intoxication.Process guest payments accurately and efficiently while maintaining proper cash-handling procedures.Assist with inventory monitoring, restocking, and communicating supply needs to management.Complete opening, closing, and side work responsibilities according to established procedures.Attend pre-shift meetings and training sessions to stay informed of menu updates, beverage offerings, and service standards.Collaborate with servers, hosts, barbacks, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth restaurant operations and consistent guest service.Previous bartending experience required; upscale or fine dining experience preferred.Strong knowledge of spirits, classic cocktails, wine, beer, and beverage preparation techniques.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong commitment to guest service.Ability to make informed beverage recommendations and engage confidently with guests.Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency in beverage preparation and presentation.Proficiency with POS systems and accurate cash-handling skills.Knowledge of responsible alcohol service practices and applicable regulations.Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and remain composed in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.Professional appearance, positive attitude, good judgment, and strong work ethic.Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while maintaining a high level of individual accountability.WHAT WE OFFERSmith & Wollensky offers a competitive benefits package and opportunities for career growth, including:Paid time off (PTO).401(k) retirement plan.Flexible scheduling.Employee dining discounts, including 50% off when dining with friends or family.Opportunities for career growth and advancement.
