Job summary

Mei's in Chicago invites a friendly server/bartender to join our team. You will greet guests, present menus, and take orders for food and drinks, while ensuring age verification for alcohol service. You’ll balance cash, help maintain a clean bar, and assist with closing duties.

Strong communication and a flexible schedule are essential. Prior experience in hospitality is preferred, with ability to work early, late shifts, weekends, and holidays in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or 2 years related experience or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals; communicate effectively.
• Ability to calculate figures and percentages; basic algebra/geometry.
• Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with Word, Excel and Internet software.
• Flexible schedule including early/late shifts, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Greet and seat guests.
• Present menus and answer questions; make recommendations.
• Take orders for food or beverages.
• Check IDs to ensure alcohol age requirements.
• Prepare cocktails and other drinks.
• Balance cash receipts and cash drawer.
• Clean bars, work areas, and tables.
• Open and close the restaurant.
• Other duties as assigned.
