Job description

Position Summary

The Bartender is responsible for the sanitation of the bar, kitchen, and food preparation areas. They will follow TIPs training in checking IDs and preparing and serving alcoholic beverages to customers. They will follow safe food handling and service practices and work closely with the food and beverage supervisor and sales staff to service meeting rooms and catering needs. They will comply with any licensing or regulatory requirements.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This position could be either full-time or part-time. All full-time positions are benefit eligible. Operational demands for this position require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Responsible for the sanitation of the bar, kitchen, and food preparation areas.
  2. Follow safe food handling and service practices at all times.
  3. Work closely with the food and beverage supervisor and sales staff to service the meeting rooms, events with catering, and any other needs.
  4. Practice safety throughout the work shift by removing/correcting any hazards identified.
  5. Collect and clean dirty dishes and/or glasses during the shift.
  6. Follow all Lexima/Brand safety practices such as wearing personal protective equipment, reading chemical warning labels, and all other safe work practices.
  7. Responsible for both bar and food service set up and break down.
  8. Food presentation meets Lexima/Brand standards.
  9. Be attentive at the bar and check with guests frequently.
  10. Handle meeting room catering needs. Frequently check with the contact person of the meeting to see if anything else is needed.
  11. Must be able to operate juice and milk machines, commercial refrigerators and freezers, commercial dishwasher, and vacuum cleaner.
  12. Maintain the kitchen in an orderly and clean fashion.
  13. Wash dirty dishes as soon as possible.
  14. Restock any necessary items during service hours.
  15. Monitor both food and bar inventories and maintain appropriate levels; do grocery shopping activities.
  16. Comply at all times with Lexima/Brand compliance standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  17. Participate in all-employee meetings, events, and other functions required by management.
  18. Charge guests for purchases and follow cash handling procedures.
  19. Be familiar with all policies, hotel rules, and hotel terminology.
  20. Attend meetings as required by management.
  21. Perform any other duties as requested by management.

Work Environment

This position will be located at a hotel and primarily work in the kitchen or restaurant/bar area.

Physical Requirements

  1. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, or hear.
  2. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and push and/or pull approximately 50lbs.
  3. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  4. Ability to stand during the entire 8-hour shift.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position. Travel for annual training and conferences may be required.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Food handling certificate in states or counties where required.
  2. TIPs training preferred (Training will be provided).
  3. Previous bartending experience preferred.
  4. Hands-on experience in cashier duties.
  5. Attention to cleanliness and safety.
  6. Patience and customer-oriented approach.
  7. Excellent people skills with a friendly attitude.
  8. Must be fluent in English.
