Job summary

Midas Hospitality is seeking a friendly Bistro Attendant to join our Food & Beverage team in Charlotte, NC. This role delivers prompt, courteous service to hotel guests and customers, contributing to a welcoming dining experience.

You will support daily restaurant operations, uphold safety and sanitation standards, and assist with room service as needed, in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous restaurant, hotel, food service, customer service, or hospitality experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain friendly, professional, and courteous in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating procedures, and other workplace instructions.
  • Basic math skills and ability to accurately handle money and perform calculations involving currency, measurements, and quantities.
  • Must meet applicable legal age requirements for alcohol service in the state where the hotel operates.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting guests promptly and courteously and provide attentive food and beverage service throughout the dining experience.
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders and accommodate guest requests and special needs.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of menu items, recipes, daily specials, and available food and beverage offerings.
  • Answer guest questions and make recommendations based on menu knowledge and guest preferences.
  • Suggestively sell and upsell restaurant, lounge, and beverage menu items.
  • Process guest checks and payments accurately while following established cash-handling and payment procedures.
  • Verify guest checks and payment methods to protect both the guest and hotel.
  • Complete opening and closing side work, including restocking, cleaning, and preparation of service areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the restaurant, wait station, kitchen service area, and other Food & Beverage spaces.
  • Follow all applicable health, sanitation, food safety, and hotel standards.
  • Respond to guest questions, comments, and concerns in person and by phone with professionalism and urgency.
  • Attend pre-shift, pre-meal, and departmental meetings to remain informed about products, service expectations, and hotel operations.
  • Maintain a clean, professional appearance and a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor.
  • Provide room service support by taking orders, preparing and expediting room service trays, delivering orders to guest rooms, and obtaining payment or guest signatures.
  • Assist other Food & Beverage associates and hotel departments as needed to support overall hotel operations.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by hotel management.

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent standing and walking throughout the shift, as well as regular use of hands for handling food service items, equipment, and guest checks. The role may also require bending, stooping, reaching, stretching, climbing, kneeling, and occasional outdoor movement.

The position requires regularly lifting or moving items up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving up to 25 pounds. The original template also identifies standing/walking, bending/reaching/stretching, and other physical activities as regular components of the role.

The work environment is primarily indoors but may include exposure to wet or humid conditions, hot environments, moving mechanical equipment, and moderate to loud noise.
