Job summary

21c Museum Hotels is seeking a Bartender to provide timely, accurate and friendly service while crafting high quality beverages for guests.

Reports to Beverage Manager; duties include following service steps, knowledge of drinks, inventory upkeep and maintaining a clean, inviting bar area. This position requires a professional appearance and strong English communication, with an emphasis on responsible beverage service.

Responsibilities

• Follow all steps of service and maintain beverage quality.
• Prepare drinks according to recipes and standard pours.
• Know wines by the glass and beverages on the menu.
• Maintain inventory and stock levels; notify staff of changes.
• Ensure guests are 21+ and handle transactions accurately.
• Keep service area and bar clean and organized.
• Support teammates and follow sanitation guidelines.

Job Description

Reports To: Beverage Manager, Food & Beverage Director

General Purpose: The Bartender provides timely, accurate and friendly service while preparing the highest quality beverages for each guest.

Specific Responsibilities

• Follows all steps of service.
• Provides superior service behind the bar by preparing drinks according to recipe standards.
• Knows drink names, ingredients, method of preparation, appropriate glassware, and garnishes.
• Knows all wines by the glass and at least five wines in each category on the wine list in varying price ranges and styles.
• Knows specialty beverages, i.e., single malt scotches, cognacs, specialty drinks, and beer lists.
• Knows all menu descriptions of the bar menu and dining room menu.
• Ensures all stock is up to par levels.
• Completes daily inventory and informs servers/managers/bar back of any changes.
• Verifies all guests are at least 21 years of age.
• Provides prompt, accurate report of all income received during shift.
• Sells beverages responsibly with the customer's best interest in mind.
• Maintains smooth flow of service between bar and server requests.
• Completes all side work as outlined in the manual.
• Reports to work on time and ready to work scheduled shifts.
• Maintains a positive, friendly attitude with co-workers and guests.
• Maintains a clean, orderly appearance in the restaurant service area.
• Assists with/executes any tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
• Follows all proper sanitation guidelines.

• Strong communication skills; must be able to speak, read, and understand English.

• Demonstrates enthusiasm for all things 21c.
• Exhibits strong beverage knowledge.
• Must pass a background check.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods.
• Requires lifting of up to 50 lbs.
