Job summary

Carroll Lutheran Village is seeking a PRN Bartender to support our mission-driven community. The role offers flexible, as-needed shifts, including 4:00pm-8:00pm on select days, with opportunities to pick up additional coverage. Availability on weekdays and weekends is required.

The bartender will greet guests, prepare and serve beverages with care, maintain a clean bar area, and collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations. This not-for-profit employer values people and service.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–2 years bartending experience or formal training preferred and verifiable.
  • Must comply with Maryland state and local alcohol laws.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests professionally and serve beverages with accuracy and presentation.
  • Arrange bar supplies and glassware for appealing displays.
  • Maintain bar/cart cleanliness and sanitation at all times.
  • Record sales, process payments, and operate the cash register per policy.
  • Prepare or sell food items as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Attend workshops and training programs as required.

The Bartender is responsible for providing exceptional customer service by professionally greeting guests, preparing and serving beverages with accuracy and presentation, and maintaining a clean and organized bar or cart area. The role collaborates with other departments to ensure smooth operations while promoting a welcoming atmosphere.

What You'll Do As a CLV Bartender
  • Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, ensuring proper garnishes and presentation.
  • Arrange bar or cart supplies and glassware to create visually appealing displays.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the bar/cart area at all times.
  • Accurately record all sales, collect payments, and operate the cash register in accordance with facility cash handling procedures.
  • Prepare and/or sell food items as needed.
  • Conduct inventory checks, assess stock levels, and submit orders or requisitions in a timely manner to ensure sufficient supply of all necessary items.
  • Adhere to all departmental procedures and facility policies.
  • Foster and maintain effective working relationships with team members and other departments to support seamless service.
  • Promote a welcoming, positive, and calm atmosphere throughout the department.
  • Attend and actively participate in workshops, seminars, and in-service training programs.
  • Complete TAM (Techniques of Alcohol Management) training and successfully pass the competency test, as required by the Carroll County Board of License Commissioners.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
What You'll Need as a Bartender
Education | Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years bartending experience or formal training is preferred and should be verifiable.
  • Must comply with all state and local laws regarding the sale and service of alcoholic beverages, as required by the State of Maryland.
