Summary:

The Bartender is responsible for greeting customers, taking drink/food orders, mixing ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, and sugar to prepare cocktails and other drinks, serving beer and other beverages, and completing transactions. They communicate ticket times and potential issues to the manager on duty and servers as necessary. The role requires providing the highest quality of service to customers and associates at all times. Additional responsibilities are assigned by management. This is a non-exempt position, typically reporting to the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, or General Manager depending on local requirements.

Essential Functions:

1. Greets customers and takes food orders; provides product information and looks for opportunities to upsell
2. Follows recipes and/or product directions for mixing beverages
3. Collects payments and operates cash registers for drinks and food, following company cash handling policies; secures all monies at shift end
4. Follows alcohol awareness procedures to prevent intoxication and handles intoxicated guests appropriately
5. Adheres to HMSHost customer service, adult beverage, and cash handling policies and procedures
6. Ensures the bar is clean, sanitized, and well-stocked

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:

1. Must meet state minimum age for serving alcohol
2. At least 1 year of related bartending experience; experience in high-volume or fast-casual dining preferred
3. Knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and their preparation; familiarity with updated beverage recipes
4. Ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic manner
5. Ability to speak, read, and understand instructions and policies; communicate comfortably with customers
6. Ability to lift/move up to 40 pounds
7. Cash handling and customer service experience preferred
