Job summary

The Tap Room at Upstream Hospitality Group is seeking an experienced bartender to join our front-of-house team in Rockville, Maryland. You will craft drinks, engage guests, and help create a lively, guest-centric bar environment.

Responsibilities include preparing beverages, delivering friendly service, verifying IDs, and maintaining bar cleanliness and knowledge of menus and promotions. Availability nights/weekends/holidays is required; 6+ months of similar role experience and TIPS

Qualifications

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build positive relationships.
• Availability – ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages.
• Certifications – Valid TIPS Certification (or willingness to obtain).

• Complete opening/closing tasks and side-work.

We’re currently looking for experienced bartenders to join our front-of-house team at The Tap Room!

Who You are

You enjoy creating quality drinks while engaging with guests and building connections. You thrive in a busy, energetic environment and understand the balance of speed, accuracy, and genuine hospitality. As a Tap Room Bartender, you help set the tone for the guest experience and contribute to a fun, positive team atmosphere.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and serve beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) efficiently and with attention to detail.
• Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive service to every guest at the bar and in the dining room.
• Ask for ID anytime serving alcohol to guests. There are no exceptions to this law and policy.
• Maintain full knowledge of our food, beverage, and beer menus, along with current specials and promotions.
• Ensure prompt service for bar guests, along with service bar.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the bar.
• Have knowledge of proper pours and use of glassware.
• Adheres to state, federal, and company liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
• Help promote our restaurant: Great food, good people!
• Assist fellow team members in the performance of their responsibilities. We want team players only!
• Complete all opening and closing tasks pertinent to the bartending position, as well as running side-work.
• All other duties as assigned.

What We’ll Need From You

• At least 6 months of experience in a similar role
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build positive relationships.
• Availability – Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Physical Requirements – Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain on your feet for extended periods.
• Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages.

• Certifications – Valid TIPS Certification (or willingness to obtain).
