Job summary

Upstream Hospitality Group in Farmingdale, NY is seeking an experienced Server to join our team. You are a natural people-person with attention to detail, thriving in a fast-paced, guest‑focused environment and bringing energy to every shift.

You’ll know our menu, liquor, specials, and events; take orders with salesmanship, adhere to liquor regulations, input orders in the POS, and complete opening/closing tasks while supporting teammates.

Qualifications

• 6 months of experience in a server/food service role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• TIPS certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Know the menu, liquor, specials, promotions, and events.
• Take guests’ orders with salesmanship and recommendations.
• Adhere to liquor regulations and check IDs.
• Input orders accurately into the POS system.
• Complete opening/closing duties and side-work.
• Know restaurant layout, tables, and storage areas.
• Promote the restaurant and uphold Tap Room policies.
• Support team members and be a team player.
• Present a neat, positive attitude and punctuality.

We are looking for an experienced and skilled Server to join our team!

You thrive in a fast-paced setting, work well with a team, and bring positive energy to every shift. The Tap Room Server occupies one of the most integral functions in the restaurant

What you'll do

• Servers are expected to have full knowledge of our menu, liquor/beer, specials, promotions, and events.
• Always exude hospitality, take guests’ food and beverage orders, utilize salesmanship techniques, and make appropriate recommendations.
• Adheres to state, federal, and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
• Ask for ID anytime serving alcohol to guests. There are no exceptions to this law and policy.
• Full knowledge of our POS system, with the ability to input orders into the POS system, correctly.
• Complete all opening and closing tasks pertinent to the serving position, as well as running side-work.
• Know the full layout of the restaurant, including but not limited to, table numbers and storage areas.
• Help promote our restaurant: Great food, good people!
• Adhere to the policies and procedures of Tap Room.
• Assist fellow team members in the performance of their responsibilities. We want team players only!
• All Tap Room employees must come to work in proper uniform, neat and clean, with a positive attitude, and ready to work on time.
• Ensure the ability to properly read state-issued identification.
• Act with integrity and honesty, and alert management to all issues that may arise with a guest.

What We'll Need From You

• At least 6 months of experience in a similar role
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build positive relationships.
• Availability - Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Physical Requirements - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain on your feet for extended periods.
• Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build positive relationships.
• Certifications - Valid TIPS Certification (or willingness to obtain).
