Job summary

Hyatt Hotels Corporation, in collaboration with Bar Daphne at Hotel Daphne in Houston, seeks a Bartender to join the team. You will mix and serve drinks, greet guests, and maintain bar cleanliness while upholding Hyatt hospitality standards.

Responsibilities include taking beverage orders, preparing cocktails, serving snacks, verifying IDs, balancing receipts, and assisting with menu planning. The role requires at least 6 months hospitality experience and flexibility for evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry.
• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace.
• Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons.
• Mix ingredients to prepare and garnish cocktails and other beverages according to standards.
• Serve snacks or food items to customers as requested or submit order to Kitchen.
• Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment.

Your role

As Bartender you will mix and serve drinks to patrons (directly or through wait staff), wait on bar patrons and serve items from the bar menu. A Bartender must have good communication skills, the ability to resolve conflicts and a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. All Bunkhouse/Hyatt employees are expected to greet all guests in proximity and make each feel important by providing a genuine welcome. Furthermore, Bartenders must develop and maintain the company’s culture, values, and reputation in the public eye, and with all staff, guests, vendors, and partners.

Responsibilities:

• Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons
• Mix ingredients to prepare and garnish cocktails and other beverages according to Bunkhouse standards
• Serve snacks or food items to customers as requested or submit order to Kitchen
• Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment
• Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays
• Help plan and organize the menu and operations of the Cocktail Lounge or Bar
• Ensure immediate response is given to all guest comments and concerns and inform immediate supervisor of concerns.
• Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
• Balance receipts and ensure payment is received from guests.
• Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers’ excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons
• Order or requisition liquors and supplies
• Ask customers who become loud and unruly to leave
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area
• Based upon fluctuating demands of the operation and to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to perform a multitude of different functions not specifically related to this position. This person may be expected to perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed.Furthermore, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and revision.

Qualifications

Six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry

Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

Able to perform the essential functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting quality standards.

Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards

Must be able to sit, stand, and squat frequently.
