Job summary

Sonesta is seeking a skilled bartender or barback to deliver exceptional service in a busy hotel bar. You will greet guests, prepare cocktails, coffee drinks, and wine, upsell, and keep the bar clean and stocked.

With 2+ years of experience, TLS/TIPS, and English proficiency, you will manage inventory, handle payments via POS, and ensure compliance with liquor laws while supporting events and private functions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 21 years old.
• 2+ years of experience as a bartender or barback.
• Food Handling Certificate.
• TIPS certification.
• Proficient in English (spoken and written).
• Strong math, organization, and multitasking skills.
• Able to lift to 25 lbs. or more and stand for 8–10 hours.
• Experience with POS and basic computer systems.
• Flexible to work variable days, including weekends, holidays, and shifts (days and nights).

Responsibilities

• Greet guests, take orders, and serve drinks and food using upselling techniques
• Prepare beverages per recipe, including cocktails, coffee drinks, and wine service
• Manage bar setup, cleanliness, restocking, and closing duties
• Maintain inventory levels, track usage, place orders, and monitor waste
• Ensure compliance with liquor laws, health regulations, and safety standards
• Operate POS system, handle payments, and perform accurate cash handling duties
• Provide guest information about menu items and hotel services
• Handle guest complaints professionally to ensure satisfaction
• Assist with private events and other service areas as needed

Compensation

Hourly rate: $19.34 - $20.34 (subject to change)
