Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels is seeking a Bartender for our Austin properties. You will greet guests, take orders, mix and serve beverages, and ensure smooth bar operations. You may also serve as a server as needed and participate in inventory and fixture maintenance.

Qualifications

• Prior bartending experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of beverage offerings and bar operations.
• Ability to maintain sanitation and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests, take drink orders, and make recommendations.
• Prepare and serve drinks to quality standards.
• Act as server when needed and manage bar setup/breakdown.
• Check IDs and ensure legal drinking age.
• Maintain pristine bar and assist with inventory.
• Develop new cocktail ideas.

What this role is all about

The Bartender is responsible for consistently delivering results that contribute to the mission and overall success of the hotel by accomplishing performance objectives covering the social venues of the hotel. The bartender sets-up, services, and breaks-down the bar area ensuring a high level of quality, consistency and service.

What you’ll be doing

• Welcoming customers, reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders.
• Planning drink menus and informing customers about new beverages and specials.
• Also acts as a Server when needed
• Selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to customers.
• Checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol.
• Taking inventory and ordering supplies to ensure bar and tables are well-stocked.
• Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations.
• Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.
• Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.
• Developing new cocktail recipes.
