Job summary

The Lofton Hotel in Minneapolis, part of Marcus Hotels & Resorts, is seeking a Part Time Bartender to serve drinks with hospitality and efficiency. You will maintain bar setup, assist with stock, and ensure guest satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must have basic knowledge of beverage preparation and service.
• Previous bartending experience preferred.
• Basic math skills for cash handling and balancing.
• Clear English writing skills for requisitions and vouchers.
• Good manual dexterity for garnishes, glassware, and stock handling.
• Ability to communicate in English with guests and team members.
• Proficient in using POS systems and completing checks.
• Bartending license or CPR/First Aid preferred; TIPS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Set up bar daily and stock beer, wine, and spirits.
• Prepare garnishes and manage perishables per shift.
• Greet guests, take orders, and document drink orders.
• Maintain bar cleanliness and personal hygiene.

What will you be doing?

• Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis. Including requisitioning and stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments, and produce, based on projections from the daily functions sheet.
• Responsible for cutting and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes; juices; and other perishables each shift to ensure product quality.
• Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promotes and documents orders for drinks. Mixes, garnishes, and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control.
• Maintain all cleanliness and sanitation of bar area along with personal hygiene.
• Account for all products served through an electronic cash register and consumption sheet documentation systems.
• Maintain proper balance of cash bank.
• Adhere to all State, Federal, and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests to ensure all laws are being followed.

What do you bring to the role?

• Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
• Previous bartending experience preferred.
• Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes.
• Basic English language writing skills necessary for completion of requisitions, balance sheets, and vouchers.
• Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnishes, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and take orders.
• Ability to operate a keyboard and perform point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check.
• Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time.
• Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate. CPR certification and/or First Aid Training preferred. Bartending certificate preferred. TIPS certification required.
