The Bartender is responsible for crafting exceptional beverages and providing excellent service to guests, ensuring that each interaction reflects Ivy Hospitality’s commitment to quality and hospitality. This role requires a strong knowledge of drink preparation, a commitment to maintaining health and safety standards, and the ability to create a welcoming atmosphere in line with the company’s high standards.
Essential functions:

- Expertly prepare and serve beverages for guests and servers in a timely, efficient, and friendly manner.
- Follow precise recipes using established measuring systems for consistent drink quality.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding the service of alcohol, particularly with respect to minors and intoxicated patrons.
- Act as the cashier for servers when necessary, and handle transactions with accuracy and integrity.
- Prepare garnishes, set up the bar, and maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area.
- Restock bar supplies and anticipate replenishment needs.
- Perform opening and closing inventories of spirits, and secure all alcohol and financial transactions at the end of each shift.
- Handle special requests and guest complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Accurately take and process dining room and room service orders, presenting checks to guests promptly.
- Properly handle and secure keys, and document maintenance issues.
- Ensure compliance with Health Department regulations and all safety protocols.
- Accurately document all transactions and balance shift reports at the end of each shift.
- Communicate openly and effectively with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Adhere to all company work rules, procedures, and policies, including those outlined in the associate handbook.
- Ensure all guest interactions are conducted in a courteous and professional manner, aligning with company standards.
- Participate in daily hotel operations meetings and contribute to the overall hotel strategy.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager, supporting the overall success of hotel operations.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent education preferred
- Experience: Minimum of one year of high-volume bar service experience required.
- Strong knowledge of drink preparation and health standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to operate bar-related equipment, including coffee makers and cash terminals.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and environments, from freezers to kitchens.
- Capacity to stand and move for extended periods, lift up to 75 lbs, and maneuver in confined spaces.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules based on hotel business needs, including attending all required training sessions and meetings.
