Job Summary
We are hiring an experienced Bartender for a modern American steakhouse affiliated with the Loews Hotel Kansas City. The role involves serving craft cocktails, maintaining the cash drawer, managing inventory, and ensuring brand standards.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
- Deliver consistently high customer service to each client and maintain a safe environment by identifying problem clients and removing them
- Keep bar area clean in accordance with company guidelines and the requirements of the local health department
- Maintain an accurate cash drawer throughout the night and account for any discrepancies in the final tally
- Mix all drinks based on the serving sizes outlined in the company manual to keep drink costs at a minimum
- Develop an efficient work pace that keeps both the bar and dining room satisfied at all times
- Responsible for the liquor room; ensure cleanliness and organization
- Assist staff in constant growth and learning by The Madera Group’s standards
- Assist in continuous growth of knowledge and hospitality for all bar staff
- Conduct trainings for any new hires
- Serve as liaison between bar and servers, bussers, and runners
- Report any 86‑d items to management along with any other issues
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar
- Ensure opening and closing duties are completed and standards are always met
- Communicate menu changes, specialty menus, and new bar items or cocktails
Brand Standards
- Ensure the correct product is used as specified by the Beverage Director and on the menu
- Relay any menu changes to management and staff
- Maintain proper back‑bar and well placement of spirits
- Oversee preparation of cocktails, ensuring right measurements and ingredients are used
- Maintain cleanliness of all wells and organize them properly
- Ensure all items are prepared properly by the prep staff
- Help push staff incentive programs
- Build rapport with guests to foster repeat business
Qualifications
- Exhibit strong multitasking abilities
- Possess a diligent work ethic
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance
- Display the ability to forecast and anticipate the needs of guests and the restaurant
- Have a minimum of 2 years experience in a full‑service dining environment
- Have strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, and wine
- Be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Be able to stand for the duration of shifts and lift up to 25 lbs
