Job summary

Boxcar Bar + Arcade in Durham is seeking a bartender who can handle a packed bar, craft great drinks, and genuinely enjoy making guests feel welcome.

You will host guests, know the menu cold, and participate in events and theme nights. The role requires several years of high-volume bar experience, a hospitable attitude, reliability, and physical stamina. Certifications such as Cicerone or ServSafe are a plus.

Qualifications

What You'll Do

• Make great drinks, fast. Handle high-volume service accurately across the range of our menu. Don’t cut corners, even when you’re three-deep.
• Host the party. Engage guests, answer questions, and ensure everyone is having a great time. You are the face of Boxcar.
• Know the menu cold. Craft beer, cocktails, shots, non-alcoholic options. Be ready to recommend, not just take orders.
• Bring the fun. We host events and theme nights. We expect you to participate, dress up when the theme calls for it, and add to the ambiance.
• Do the dirty work. Keg changes, line cleaning, fruit prep, restocking, mopping. Everyone contributes to all the little tasks that keep the drinks flowing.
• Keep it tight. Maintain a clean bar, handle cash accurately, and manage inventory/tabs with precision.

• Reliability. Full stop. Show up, on time, every time.
• Physically ready. 8-hour shifts on your feet. Able to lift 40 lbs.
• Certification. Cicerone Certified Beer Server and/or ServSafe Alcohol Certifications are a plus.
