General Description
Provides dining service to guests seated at the bar. Takes drink orders from patrons or servers, prepares, and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to standard recipes. Responsible for setup, breakdown, maintenance, and operation of the bar.
Specific Tasks
- Prepare and serve drinks consistent with restaurant standards
- Provide food and drink service to bar guests
- Ring food into the kitchen based on restaurant standards
- Provide menus and answer guest questions
- Accept payments, process credit cards, and give change
- Check IDs to verify age requirements for alcohol purchase
- Clean and sterilize glassware and tools
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar and storage areas
- Assist with bar prep, batching cocktails, garnishes, etc.
- Take and prepare beverage orders from service staff
- Balance cash drawer, tips, and receipts accurately
- Prepare checkout following cash handling procedures
- Stock bar supplies
- Communicate with management about equipment or product needs
- Learn and remember regular guests' names
- Coordinate with team to meet guest needs and support the restaurant
- Complete daily opening and closing side work
- Handle guest allergies seriously and follow allergy protocols
- Follow safety and sanitation guidelines
- Attend meetings and suggest improvements
- Fill in when needed to maintain service standards
- Place orders and maintain bar par levels
- Maintain reliable attendance, operating on a seven-day schedule
Physical Requirements
- Lift and move weights up to 50 pounds
- Use tools and equipment safely and effectively
- Stand and walk throughout the shift, including stairs and uneven surfaces
