Job summary:
Responsible for preparing and serving beverages directly to customers seated at the bar, as well as in the lounge area or at dining tables. Also responsible for food service to guests seated at the bar.
Must be willing and able to:
- Arrange and set up beverages, beverage mixes, and supplies efficiently and professionally according to standing operating procedures
- Complete all assigned side work
- Prepare ingredients needed for mixed beverage recipes
- Safely use equipment and utensils as prescribed for beverage preparation
- Prepare beverages according to prescribed recipes, including alcohol content
- Use proper methods to ensure accurate alcohol pours according to standing operating procedures
Measures:
- Count and be responsible for the cash drawer
- Operate all functions of bar service independently if necessary
- Take and fulfill food orders from guests at the bar using available communication equipment, including computer register systems
Communication and Service:
- Communicate clearly, cordially, and effectively with co-workers
- Interact with guests in a friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner
- Accurately record and account for all items served
- Maintain security of bar stock inventory
- Relate to guests pleasantly and with good humor
- Perform duties to ensure all aspects of bar service meet operational standards
Additional duties:
- Assist host staff with answering telephones
Qualifications:
Must have at least 2 years of experience in a full-service bar or equivalent. Must possess accurate mathematical skills and knowledge of alcoholic beverage preparation. Thorough knowledge of liquors, wines, and their distinctions is required, including familiarity with menu items, specials, wine list, liquor list, recipes for special drinks, liquor liability laws, and accounting procedures.
