Pret A Manger in New York City is hiring a passionate Barista to craft drinks, engage guests, and energize the team. You’ll coach peers on our Barista Prepared Drinks program and help maintain Pret standards.

You will deliver drinks within 60 seconds, maintain cleanliness, and contribute to sales by upselling. Experience as a barista is required, with a friendly, reliable attitude and strong communication. Benefits include health, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Barista: 1 year experience (Required)
• Proficiency in espresso-based drinks
• Team-oriented, reliable, and punctual
• Excellent communication skills
• NYC Food Handlers Card preferred
• Ability to stand, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in hot/cold environments

Responsabilités

• To coach and train Team Member Star and Baristas-in-training on Barista Prepared Drinks and standards
• Deliver drinks within the 60-second service standard, communicating proactively when delays occur
• To liaise with management to ensure all Barista Prepared Drinks training is planned and carried out as appropriate
• To carry out coffee team briefs and attend relevant meetings and courses related to Barista Prepared Drinks
• To ensure all hot drinks training material is available and up to date
• To follow Pret’s dress code and be immaculately presented, wearing the correct uniform at all times
• To positively engage with guests and the team with eye contact and a smile
• To serve Barista Prepared Drinks to the 60 seconds standards, communicating to customers and the team when this is not possible
• To wow customers with latte art
• To make all Barista Prepared Drinks to Pret standards
• Role model coffee knowledge and to maintain understanding about Pret’s Barista Prepared Drinks and standards
• To maintain the Barista Prepared Drinks equipment and daily checks to Pret standards
• To view the Barista Prepared Drinks counter through a customer’s eyes and clean as you go
• To carry out log checks, thermometer calibration and dribble tests in line with Pret standards
• To manage waste levels of Barista Prepared Drinks ingredients
• To address stock variances and waste as required by your Manager
• Support with keeping shelves restocked and looking picture perfect
• To have a weekly sales target and share this with the team
• To know shop Barista Prepared Drinks sales vs total sales and the mix
• To recognize regular customers with appropriate volume of drinks via Joy of Pret
