Job summary

The Barista supports the daily operations of a City-owned coffee shop located in Hurst. This part-time role performs advanced barista duties, supports student employees, and helps maintain high standards of service, safety, and product quality while fostering a structured, inclusive learning environment.

You’ll assist with opening/closing procedures and serve as a positive mentor. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, knowledge of espresso equipment, and strong customer service

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with youth or student programs is preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain food handling & safety certifications as per local/state regulations.
• Must have reliable communication and punctual attendance.
• Must have reliable transportation and flexibility to work shifts.
• Must pass pre-employment drug test and background/credit checks.
• Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves coffee, espresso beverages, and light food items per recipes and quality standards.
• Delivers professional customer service and maintains a welcoming environment.
• Assists with opening/closing, cash handling, cleaning, and equipment operation.
• Maintains clean, safe, and organized work areas per health and safety rules.
• Monitors inventory, restocks supplies, and communicates needs to management.
• Trains student employees in barista skills, food safety, and workplace expectations.
• Mentors students and models professional workplace behavior including punctuality and teamwork.
• Supports a safe, structured environment for students with diverse learning needs.
