Job summary

Theoceanac is seeking a Barista to prepare and sell drinks, following recipes and techniques while drawing in new customers. You will greet guests, explain the menu, and demonstrate coffee equipment to help customers select the right products.

Responsibilities include maintaining inventory, keeping the coffee bar clean, and providing excellent service in a fast-paced casino/hotel environment. English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 1+ year in the coffee service industry.
• Clear and concise communication with customers and team members.
• Superior customer service skills with the ability to manage difficult customer situations and respond promptly to customer needs and requests.
• Ability to communicate in English.

• Sells coffees and coffee grinding and brewing equipment by explaining differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation machines; demonstrating how brewing equipment operates.
• Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for drinks such as espresso, cafe latte, and cappuccino.
• Generates revenues by attracting new customers; defining new and expanded services and products.
• Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking brewing equipment; maintaining pastries and cookies for coffee bar.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; calling for repairs.
• Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
• Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and redesigning processes; maintaining and improving the appearance of the store and coffee bar.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading coffee, retail trade, and food service publications; maintaining personal networks.

Essential Functions

• Exposure to casino related environmental factors including but not limited to secondhand smoke, excessive noise, and stress related to servicing customers in a high pressure and fast paced environment
• Must be able to stand for an entire shift and be able to move throughout the Casino/Hotel areas
• Repetitive finger and wrist motion (key board data entry) as well as prolonged viewing of data on a computer monitor
• Must be able to work holidays and weekends, as well as flexible shifts and/or unusual hours
• Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs

• High school diploma or equivalent GED preferred
• At least 1+ year in the coffee service industry
• Ability to communicate with customers and team members in a clear and concise manner
• Superior customer service skills with the ability to manage difficult customer situations and respond promptly to customer needs and requests.
• Ability to effectively communicate in English
