Job summary

Grand Sierra Resort is seeking a friendly barista to welcome guests, educate on the coffee menu, and prepare beverages to company standards. You will also manage inventory, maintain equipment, and ensure a clean, inviting coffee bar within the resort environment.

The role requires the ability to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends, and to stand for long periods while delivering high-quality beverages and guest service.

Qualifications

• Previous barista experience preferred or related education.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and determine coffee interests and needs.
• Educate guests on the coffee drink menu and answer questions.
• Sell coffee and equipment by explaining beans and machines; demonstrate operation.
• Prepare and serve coffee drinks following prescribed recipes (espresso, latte, cappuccino).
• Maintain inventories and stock pastry supplies for the coffee bar.
• Keep equipment operating and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
• Follow sanitation standards to maintain a safe work environment.
• Operate the POS for at least 4 hours per shift.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks.
• Assist with monthly breakdown of store for deep cleaning.
• Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Welcomes guests by determining their coffee interests and needs.
• Educate guests by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu, answering questions.
• Sells coffee and coffee grinding and brewing equipment by explaining differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation machines; demonstrating how brewing equipment operates.
• Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, espresso lungo, caffe latte, and cappuccino.
• Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies, pastries, and cookies for coffee bar.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
• Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes; maintaining and improving the appearance of the store and coffee bar.
• Enhances coffee shop reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
• Operates the POS (Point of Sale) for half of shift, 4 hours minimally.
• Performs daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks.
• Assist with monthly breakdown of store for deep cleaning
• Any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position.

• Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Previous barista experience preferred or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• While performing the duties of this job, the team member is constantly standing, frequently walking, reaching overhead, bending over, crouching, kneeling and balancing during the duration of their shift.
• Must be able to push/pull up to 50lbs occasionally.
• The team members will frequently have repetitive use of both hands and occasional light and firm/strong grasping motions as well as finger dexterity.
• Constant use of vision abilities is required including distance, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work performed indoors alone and frequently with and around others. Team Member will perform work face-to-face including verbal contact with others on extended shifts around computer equipment and other mechanical devices.
