Job summary

The Clapping Monkey House of Coffee in Fridley, MN is hiring a part-time Barista Shift Lead to help create a welcoming place where people can be themselves while keeping shifts organized and running smoothly.

This hands-on lead role works alongside the team to direct workflow, assign tasks, uphold food-safety standards, and resolve guest concerns, escalating to Management when needed. Flexible scheduling available.

Qualifications

• Experience in coffee shop or hospitality settings.
• Ability to lead by example and stay calm during busy service.
• Reliable, organized, and communicative.

Responsibilities

• Direct immediate workflow and assign routine tasks during shifts.
• Verify opening and closing procedures and support food safety and quality.

The Clapping Monkey House of Coffee is a locally queer-owned, pop-and-pop coffee shop in Fridley built around great coffee, food, hospitality, creativity, and community. We're hiring part-time Barista Shift Leads to help create a welcoming place where people can comfortably be themselves while keeping shifts organized and running smoothly.

This is a hands-on lead-worker role, not a Management position Barista Shift Leads work alongside the team while directing immediate workflow, assigning routine tasks, verifying opening and closing work, supporting food-safety and quality standards, resolving routine guest concerns, and escalating issues when Management involvement is needed.

What we're looking for:

• Coffee shop, food-service, hospitality, retail, or comparable customer-service experience
• Reliability, communication, organization, and ability to lead by example
• Working knowledge of cash handling, food safety, cleaning, and opening or closing procedures
• Ability to stay calm and provide clear direction during busy service
• Opening, closing, evening, weekend, and holiday availability based on business needs

$11.50/hour + tips when scheduled as a Barista
$12.50/hour + tips when scheduled and working as Barista Shift Lead
