The Picnic Basket is part of The Glass Jar family, located in Santa Cruz, CA. We are seeking a Barista and Sandwich Maker to deliver exceptional service in a fast-paced cafe setting and to master our locally sourced menu.

You will handle the register, craft quality coffee and tea, prepare ingredients, follow recipes, and create breakfasts, salads and sandwiches with attention to detail. Seasonal availability through Winter 2026 is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service or food production in a high-volume, fast-paced location is preferable.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
• Strong communication and prioritization skills.
• Demonstrated attention to detail.
• Availability for at least 20 hours per week on a reliable basis.
• Able to work weekdays, weekends and holidays.
• Desire to learn about locally sourced food and sustainable business.
• Must be available through Winter 2026.

The Picnic Basket is our bustling beachfront cafe located near the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. We are dedicated to simple, delicious food and treats, with ingredients sourced from local farmers, foragers and food artisans! We are looking for people who believe in our mission of making quality food for the public and delivering exceptional customer service in a high-volume, fast paced environment.

As a Barista and Sandwich Maker, you will create an excellent customer experience by working the register, making high quality coffee and tea drinks, prepping ingredients, following recipes, and making breakfast items, salads and sandwiches. You will also be responsible for developing a comprehensive understanding of our menu items.

Requirements

Requirements Include:
