Job summary

WH Wheeling Hospital Inc. is seeking a cafe associate to oversee daily beverage preparation, service and sanitation standards in the WV coffee shop. The role involves inventory, cash handling, and promoting menu items to customers in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Six months of previous food services barista experience.
  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages using blenders, coffee makers and espresso machines.
  • Ensure sanitation, safety and quality control per departmental policies and WV Dept. of Health.
  • Take inventory, place and retrieve orders, and organize stock.
  • Operate the cash register, balance the cash drawer at shift end.
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils and equipment.
  • Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators and hot holding equipment.
  • Describe and promote items to customers in a positive service manner.
  • Serve and prepare hot and cold menu items.
  • Routinely restock all food items and supplies.
  • Sweep and mop floors, remove trash, and dispose properly.
  • Label and date food items; create daily signage as directed.
  • Lock down cafe at end of meal service and secure cash bag.

Job description

This position will oversee assigned cafe functions including but not limited to: payment handling, product preparation and service and general cleanliness. In addition, this position will ensure that safety, sanitation, customer service and positive customer experiences are maintained at all times.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

  1. High school diploma or GED, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

EXPERIENCE:

  1. Six (6) months previous food services barista experience.

  1. Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages utilizing blenders, coffer makers and grinders and espresso machines.

  2. Ensures that all activities meet sanitation, safety and quality control guidelines set forth by departmental policies and the West Virginia Department of Health.

  3. Takes inventory, places orders, retrieves orders, and puts orders away.

  4. Runs cash register, retrieving initial bank of money, verifies amounts, balances out bank at the end of shift.

  5. Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, equipment and service areas.

  6. Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators and hot holding equipment.

  7. Describe and promote items to customers in a positive and service driven way.

  8. Serve and prepare hot and cold items.

  9. Routinely clean, straight and restock all food items and supplies.

  10. Sweep and mop floors retrieving trash and taking out to dumpster.

  11. Label and date food items as appropriate.

  12. Create signage daily as directed.

  13. Lock down café at end of meal service and return cash bag as directed.

  2. Requires significant walking throughout several buildings.
