Barista - Dixon Cabrini Campus

The Barista is responsible for providing exceptional customer service at Holy Grounds locations. Responsibilities include product knowledge, presentation and quality of product, speed of service, sales ability, and strong customer relations. The Barista operates Holy Grounds as an independent unit, managing all responsibilities in the absence of a manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service that is efficient, friendly and speedy to Holy Grounds customers. Treats each customer as a top priority, being mindful of those waiting.
• Operates POS terminals and, when applicable, Grub Hub applications to receive orders.
• Actively shares coffee and tea knowledge, sells all products, advertises new items of the week, and prepares all drinks according to Holy Grounds standards.
• Maintains cleanliness and attractiveness of the Holy Grounds kiosk by keeping counters and displays clean, fully stocked, and ensuring all products are correctly labeled.
• Assists manager with scheduling of student associates and enforces uniform standards.
• Completes tasks assigned at each shift, ensuring readiness for the next shift.
• Monitors customer needs and resolves concerns or questions promptly.
• Enforces and practices all safety and sanitation policies and procedures for Villanova Dining Services.
• Performs additional duties and assists with special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Formal Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Specific Job Knowledge: Interest in coffee; will sample and test products for quality assurance.
• Minimum Work Experience: 1-2 years of cashiering experience.
• Work Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong customer service skills; appropriate dress and grooming for Holy Grounds concept; able to handle multiple tasks while prioritizing.
• Equipment Knowledge: Will train on all coffee equipment; preferred—POS and Grub Hub systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Serv Safe certification.
• Cash register knowledge.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions

• Tools: espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and cash registers.
• Environmental Conditions: increased noise level around some equipment; cleaning chemicals used.
• Physical Requirements: ability to lift, push, or pull up to 30 pounds independently; sit or stand for extended periods; use of chemicals; manual dexterity.

Schedule

Sunday/Monday 6am – 3pm
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday 10am – 7pm

Salary

$18.98/hr plus shift differential added for qualifying shifts
