Job Description

This position is Monday thru Friday, 7am to 3:30pm. Must have prior sandwich making skills and barista experience.

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision of the Dining Supervisor, the barista / wait staff performs a variety of duties involving preparation and service of balanced meals to the residents of Glencroft. The barista / wait staff will possess a genuine interest in and concern for the food service industry and for geriatric, chronically ill and/or disabled persons. Must be able to fluently communicate in or to take or give direction or guidance in the English language.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITY

A thorough knowledge of the practices and procedures in the use and operation of food service. A professional appearance and hygiene is to be maintained at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Regular attendance is considered an essential function of this position and is necessary for the efficient operation of the business
  2. Welcoming customers, informing them about specials or new items, answering questions, and accepting orders and payments.
  3. Preparing foods, such as sandwiches or baked goods, and grinding and blending coffee beans, brewing coffee and tea, and serving items to customers.
  4. Selling coffee and tea blends and brewing equipment, highlighting the differences between items, and educating customers about brewing methods.
  5. Cleaning and restocking work and dining areas, emptying trash and sanitizing equipment and utensils.
  6. Learning about brewing methods, beverage blends, food preparation, and presentation techniques to improve food quality.
  7. Updating signage and displays to attract employee customers & residents.
  8. Taking inventory and replenishing items in display cases, at tables, or behind the counter.
  9. Adhering to all food safety regulations and quality controls.
  10. Training and willingness to continue learning about food and beverage preparation.
  11. Availability to work around peak hours, including nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  12. A polite, engaging personality with any and all residents and employees.
  13. Prepares busses and serves all tables as required to include beverage service
  14. Prepares tables for dining, including tableware, linens, condiments, etc.
  15. Washes and sanitizes tables, chairs and meal trays, and various cleaning duties as required.
  16. Assists in the passing and preparation of meal trays and assists Cooks as requested.
  17. Delivers nourishments and snacks as needed.
  18. Inspects deliveries for Bistro only ensuring proper items and quantities are delivered and that temperatures are recorded while adhering to safe food handling practices.
  19. Maintains HACCP records on a daily basis, monitoring temperatures of hot and cold foods throughout service including prior to, during and cool down to ensure established temperature goals are met.
  20. Assist in training and education of new personnel as assigned by the Executive Chef & VP.
  21. Ensures that the service area has been secured at the end of the shift. All equipment and lights are turned off and all doors and gates are locked.
  22. Practices a safety first attitude reporting any unsafe behavior or working condition in accordance with Glencroft Safety Policies and Procedures.
  23. Cleans and sanitizes work area and equipment as assigned assuming responsibility for the clean and orderly condition of areas and equipment used on the shift.
  24. Assists with various duties relating to special activities and functions.
  25. Attends departmental staff meetings, in-services and other related meetings as required.
  26. Performs other duties as assigned.
