Job summary

Impact Kitchen in New York, NY is seeking a Barista (Guest Experience Team Member) to deliver exceptional hospitality while preparing beverages and providing friendly, efficient service. You will partner with Culinary Experience teammates to ensure seamless teamwork and outstanding guest experiences.

BARISTA

(Internally titled: Guest Experience Team Member)

As a Barista at Impact Kitchen, you set the hospitality standard high and are passionate about ensuring guests enjoy their experience. You create positive interactions at every stage of the guest journey and foster a sense of community while preparing beverages and providing friendly, efficient service. You partner with your Culinary Experience counterparts to ensure seamless teamwork and exceptional execution.

You are an expert in your craft and a go-to resource for all things coffee and beverage related. You take pride in producing high-quality drinks to Impact Kitchen standards, maintaining an organized and spotless workspace, and delivering consistent, world-class guest experiences.

COMPENSATION

Baristas earn $18/hour plus tips ($4-$7/hr on average), paid time off for full-time staff, a substantial discount on Impact Kitchen products, and flexible scheduling to support a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

TEAM & DEPARTMENT

Baristas make an impact every day by providing outstanding beverage service and supporting the overall front-of-house operations. Internally, this role is part of the Guest Experience Team and reports to the Guest Experience Manager and General Manager of each restaurant.

In this position, you will collaborate with colleagues at multiple levels of the organization and play an integral part in creating a welcoming and positive guest experience.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare all beverages to company standards, including coffee, espresso-based drinks, teas, tonics, smoothies, and wellness drinks.
• Dial espresso grinders daily and continually monitor espresso quality.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee and smoothie bar throughout service.
• Set up and close down barista and smoothie stations at the start and end of each shift.
• Ensure accurate order entry through the POS system for efficient communication between the bar and kitchen.
• Support a smooth service by assisting team members across front-of-house positions as needed.
• Provide exceptional hospitality and contribute to a welcoming and community-focused atmosphere.
• Participate in training and ongoing learning to maintain product and service excellence.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Excellent communication skills; ability to work effectively and respectfully in a team setting.
• Strong ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
• Passion for health, wellness, and high-quality food and beverage experiences.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Availability to work days, evenings, and weekends as business requires.
• Commitment of at least 5 days per week and 30–40 hours per week.
• General understanding of food safety and public health practices.
• Required: Minimum 2 years of barista experience.
• Preferred but not required: Food Handlers Certification.
