Job description

Job Description
About Cafecito Social

Cafecito Social is a Guatemalan specialty coffee brand in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Our coffee is roasted at origin, in Guatemala, by Guatemalan roasters, and it ships fresh to Bond Street every week. In Guatemala, a cafecito is how you say sit down, stay awhile. That is the feeling we build behind the counter every day.

The Role

You will pull espresso, steam milk, run the bar, and hold the standard on quality and cleanliness through a full shift. You are also the face of the café, so warmth and consistency matter as much as speed. Some shifts you will open the shop at 6:00 AM and run the morning on your own.

What You Will Do
  • Prepare espresso drinks, pour-overs, and cold brew to our recipes and standards
  • Greet and serve every guest with genuine warmth, and know the menu cold
  • Run the Shopify POS accurately and handle cash and card payments
  • Open or close the café using our checklists, including cleaning, prep, and cash reconciliation
  • Keep the bar, seating, and back of house clean and stocked through the shift
  • Follow food safety and health code standards on every task
  • Restock beans, cups, milk, and supplies, and flag low inventory
Who You Are
  • Six months or more on an espresso bar. We will train you on our menu, but you need to know your way around a machine
  • Reliable and punctual. We are a small team and every shift matters. If we cannot count on you at 6:00 AM, this is not the right fit
  • Wednesday through Sunday availability
  • Fast, calm, and friendly during a rush, and comfortable working on your own
  • Warm without being performative. Genuine, not a script
  • A team player who keeps the space clean without being asked
  • Legally authorized to work in the US
Must Have
  • A NYC Food Protection Certificate already in hand. If you do not have one, we will help you get certified after hire
  • Spanish
  • A Plus
  • Latte art
  • Familiarity with Guatemalan or Central American coffee
What We Offer
  • $17.00/hr plus tips, with a clear path up.
  • A consistent, predictable schedule
  • Free coffee on shift
  • A small, respectful team
  • Coffee you can trace back to the farm it came from
