Job summary

Levy Restaurants in Houston is seeking a Barista to craft Starbucks beverages and foods, greeting guests and delivering fast, friendly service during conventions at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

You will handle POS transactions, maintain cleanliness, and follow safety guidelines while working flexible shifts to support peak event periods. Prior coffee or retail experience and a team-focused approach are preferred.

Qualifications

Location: George R. Brown Convention Center | Heart of Downtown - near Discovery Green | Houston, TX

Job Summary

The Starbucks Barista is responsible for creating an exceptional guest experience by providing quality beverages, food products, and customer service in a fast-paced convention center environment. This position serves convention attendees, exhibitors, guests, and employees while maintaining Starbucks brand standards, cleanliness, and operational excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve Starbucks beverages and food items according to company recipes and standards.
• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting guests, answering questions, and resolving concerns professionally.
• Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems and accurately process cash, credit card, and mobile transactions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked café environment.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines at all times.
• Restock inventory, supplies, and merchandise as needed.
• Assist with opening, closing, and shift change procedures.
• Monitor product quality and report equipment or inventory issues to management.
• Work efficiently during high-volume events, conventions, and peak business periods.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Preferred

• Previous Starbucks, coffee shop, food service, or retail experience.
• POS system experience.
• Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• TABC Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per shift.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures around food preparation equipment.
