Job summary

Compass Group USA is seeking a Starbucks Barista for a fast-paced convention center environment in Houston. You will create beverages and food items, deliver excellent guest service, and maintain a clean café while following safety guidelines.

Ideal candidates have strong communication skills, the ability to multitask, and flexibility to work varied shifts including events. Experience in food service or retail is preferred; certifications may be required upon hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and events.
• Preferred Starbucks/coffee shop/retail or food service experience.
• Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• TABC Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve Starbucks beverages and food items according to company recipes and standards.
• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting guests, answering questions, and resolving concerns professionally.
• Operate POS systems and accurately process cash, credit card, and mobile transactions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked cafe environment.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines at all times.
• Restock inventory, supplies, and merchandise as needed.
• Assist with opening, closing, and shift change procedures.
• Monitor product quality and report equipment or inventory issues to management.
• Work efficiently during high-volume events, conventions, and peak business periods.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The Starbucks Barista is responsible for creating an exceptional guest experience by providing quality beverages, food products, and customer service in a fast-paced convention center environment. This position serves convention attendees, exhibitors, guests, and employees while maintaining Starbucks brand standards, cleanliness, and operational excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare and serve Starbucks beverages and food items according to company recipes and standards.

• Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures around food preparation equipment.
