Hotel Hermosa in Hermosa Beach is hiring a Barista to join its Food & Beverage team. You’ll prepare coffee and espresso beverages, serve breakfast items, and greet guests with warm, personalized service. You’ll also support restaurant service as needed and maintain a clean, inviting coffee bar.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year of hospitality or F&B experience, espresso training, and strong guest-service skills. Ability to stand, lift up to 30 lbs, and work with accuracy on transactions is valued.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of hospitality or F&B experience preferred.
• Barista experience with espresso equipment and recipes required.
• Restaurant or hotel restaurant serving experience required.
• Strong guest service and communication skills.
• Ability to operate a cash register and handle cash/credit transactions.
• Basic math, recipe following, and task prioritization in a busy environment.

Located along Pacific Coast Highway in the heart of Hermosa Beach, Hotel Hermosa is a laid-back boutique hotel that captures the relaxed, eclectic spirit of Southern California. The 81-room property features beach-inspired accommodations, a year-round heated pool and spa, Beach Eats Café, and The Yard, an ocean-view outdoor space with fire pits, billiards, and lawn games. THE ROLE

As a Barista, you’ll be part of the hotel’s Food & Beverage team, creating a welcoming start to guests’ mornings through great coffee, thoughtful service, and attention to detail. You’ll prepare coffee and espresso beverages, serve breakfast items, and get to know our guests while also supporting restaurant service as a cross-trained team member. You will:

• Welcome guests with friendly, personalized service and a positive attitude
• Take orders, answer questions, and make thoughtful beverage and menu recommendations
• Prepare and serve coffee, espresso, tea, and other beverages according to recipes and service standards
• Prepare, stock, and serve small breakfast items
• Cross-train and support restaurant service as needed
• Keep the coffee bar, tables, counters, and service areas clean and inviting
• Clean and maintain espresso machines, brewing equipment, and other coffee bar tools
• Maintain well-stocked coffee, tea, beverage, and breakfast stations throughout the shift
• Process cash and credit transactions accurately and follow house procedures
• Close checks and complete required end-of-shift reports
• Assist the Food & Beverage Manager with stocking and preparing items for the next shift
• Follow all food safety and sanitation requirements
• Complete required brand and coffee training
• Communicate effectively with guests and fellow team members
• Support other departments and team members to help the hotel operate at its best

The coffee bar is clean, organized, and well stocked, beverages and breakfast items are prepared consistently, and you’re a dependable team member who can confidently jump between barista and restaurant service when needed.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• 1+ year of related hospitality or food & beverage experience preferred
• Previous barista experience with espresso equipment, coffee preparation, and recipes required
• Previous restaurant or hotel restaurant serving experience required
• Strong guest service and communication skills
• Comfortable making recommendations and creating a welcoming guest experience
• Ability to operate a cash register and accurately handle cash and credit transactions
• Basic math skills and ability to follow recipes and established procedures
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize in a busy environment
• Dependable, positive, and comfortable working as part of a team
• English-speaking or bilingual
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, reach, lift, and carry
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. without assistance
• Comfortable working around commercial kitchen equipment and cleaning agents
