Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in Illinois is seeking a Bariatric RN program coordinator to ensure MBSAQIP compliance and drive care pathways. You will oversee the MBS Committee, educate teams, and collaborate with surgeons and departments to uphold high-quality patient care.

You will develop and maintain protocols, monitor outcomes, and prepare for site visits. The role emphasizes cross-functional communication and quality improvement within a surgical bariatrics program.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Nursing is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• 1+ years RN experience in surgical setting.
• Experience with care of patients with morbid obesity preferred.
• Experience with program development preferred.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license required.

Responsibilities

• Manages accreditation criteria and ensures MBSAQIP standards compliance.
• Administrates the MBS Committee and oversees its activities.
• Develops and maintains patient care pathways and protocols.
• Provides education to physicians, staff, patients and community; supports protocol/nursing education.
• Monitors outcomes data and provides feedback to surgeons; gathers data for quality improvement.
• Liaises between facility and metabolic, bariatric proceduralists and general surgeons; coordinates with in-house departments.
• Prepares for accreditation site visits and ensures readiness; submits outcomes data to MBSAQIP Registry.
• Promotes communication and problem-solving among Bariatric Medical Director and staff.
