Job summary

Qualifications

• High School graduate/GED certificate or equivalent is required
• Bachelor’s Degree or course work toward a Bachelor’s preferred
• Ability to read, write and speak English; bi-lingual in Spanish preferred
• Previous healthcare experience (2 yrs.) is required
• Good working knowledge of insurance benefits and medical terminology
• Microsoft Office suite, Excel, and typing 35 WPM
• Experience with interdisciplinary teams preferred
• Strong organizational, communication and customer service skills
• Professionalism and ability to communicate with all levels of staff
• Ability to schedule surgeries and pre-surgical testing

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values in services and practices
• Inititates communication with patients after referrals and verifies needs
• Assist patients and families to navigate documents prior to surgery
• Educates patients on medical options and financial considerations
• Leads coordination of benefits and insurance verification
• Schedules pre-surgical testing and ensures required authorizations
• Monitors pre-admission and surgical scheduling across settings
• Maintains HIPAA/PHI compliance and documentation in EMR
• Provides excellent customer service and supports care coordination
