Job summary

Salinas Valley Health seeks a Medical Assistant Coordinator for Bariatric Surgery to provide administrative and patient-coordination support along the bariatric pathway. You will track patient progress, schedule and coordinate required appointments, tests, and consultations, and ensure accurate EMR documentation as part of the care team.

The role requires timely communication with patients, clinicians, and the bariatric team, maintaining program expectations and supporting readiness for surgery

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; associate degree preferred.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or six-month Nurse Aide program.
• Experience with Electronic Health Records (EMR) is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient outreach and follow-up for bariatric pathway.
• Maintain and update patient pathways, checklists, and episode status.
• Support education and remind patients of appointments, tests, and classes.
• Document patient encounters accurately in the EMR and maintain confidentiality.
• Escalate delays or barriers to RN or provider per protocol.
• Assist with pre-operative classes and scheduling for surgery and post-operative follow-up.
