Job summary

The Baton Rouge Clinic, AMC is seeking a compassionate LPN or CMA to join our Bariatric Coordinator team. You will coordinate care for patients undergoing bariatric surgery, schedule appointments, coordinate testing, educate patients, and ensure paperwork is completed.

Ideal candidates have strong communication and organizational skills, experience with EPIC, and a patient-centered approach to guiding patients through the bariatric program from scheduling through postoperative follow-up.

Qualifications

• Requires Medical Assistant Certification or LPN license in Louisiana.
• Experience with bariatric or surgical coordination is preferred.
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills.

Responsibilities

The Baton Rouge Clinic, AMC is seeking a compassionate and organized Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team as a Bariatric Coordinator. This position will work with patients, physicians, and staff to coordinate care for patients undergoing bariatric surgery and weight management services.

The Bariatric Coordinator will help patients navigate the bariatric program by scheduling appointments, coordinating testing, providing patient education, and ensuring required paperwork is completed. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills and enjoy helping patients throughout their care journey.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient appointments, consultations, and testing for bariatric surgery.
• Provide patients with information on surgery preparation and postoperative care.
• Follow up with patients to ensure appointments, testing, and paperwork are completed.
• Assist with insurance verification and obtaining procedure authorizations.
• Communicate with physicians, staff, and other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care.

Requirements

Education:

• Medical Assistant Certification / Current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Louisiana

Licenses/Certifications (if applicable):

• Current Louisiana LPN license

Experience

• Previous clinical or outpatient healthcare experience preferred.
• Bariatric, surgical, or patient care coordination experience preferred.
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well with patients, physicians, staff, and insurance representatives.
• Experience with EPIC and basic computer applications preferred.
