Job summary

Kirby Inland Marine Lp is seeking a Dispatch Administrator to facilitate information flow between vessels and shoreside personnel, coordinating orders, trip details, and barge movements across Bolivar, Texas City, Freeport, Beaumont, and Port Arthur.

Ideal candidates will have 1+ year dispatch or towing industry experience; HQ supports rotating day/night schedules and the ability to work in a high‑pressure, outdoor-anchored environment near water.

Qualifications

• Requires organization, precision and reliability building dockside and vessel communications.
• Shows ability to multitask and manage shifting priorities in a busy dispatch environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; proficient with standard office equipment and VHF radio.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Houston dispatch, Sales, Customers, and vessel/barge movements within Bolivar, Texas City, Freeport, Beaumont, and Port Arthur.
• Communicate with vessels via VHF radio and Oasis computer program; enter trip information and orders and document all fleeting.
• Contact Vessel or Barge M&R to coordinate repairs.
• Set up Shore Tankerman and coordinate with Logistics Management as needed.
• Coordinate and assist in general fleeting operations.
• Maintain communications with Kirby Traffic to coordinate trip details and horsepower assignments.
• Coordinate all barge movements in/out of Kirby fleet; maintain daily logs and inspections.
• Know and apply Facility Security Plan and control access at the gated Facility; participate in drills.
• Work a 12-hour daily shift (7 days on, 7 days off), open and busy environment; adapt to weather and water conditions.
